One of the things that has always bugged me, well, for a long time anyway in EQ; eh, that the "Regal Band of Bathezid" has only five charges of a 25pt damage shield that lasts only 25 minutes, and is apparently unaffected by any extended enhancement abilities, or spells or worn effects. Would it be unbalancing to give players questing for this ring a bit of a break for convenience's sake, if nothing else; to either add charges (unlimited may or may not not be possible) something like 25, 50, or 99 (there is a recharge quest script, so please examine Herald Techla's scripts inside Chardok(a) zone)? Or to even increase the spell worn effect time significantly? Anywhere from 125 minutes to 250, or even 500 minutes? Not sure how many counters this may set up, probably no extra ones, or how many more clock cycles this might take from the server but it couldn't be all that many since this is a higher level item, more valuable to "true" solo players than 2-boxers.
This effect is still imminently dispellable by even level 35+ caster NPCs, and this change is really a thing of convenience for players; maintaining max faction is trivial and running back and forth to Chardok's zone in amounts to a time sink if players have to do this more than once a week, or weekend, or so. But, like anything, else, i don't wanna make busy-work over bugs or bigger problems!
