New Group PoP Progression

There have been a bunch of new players and boxes lately, and many people ask me about PoP progression. Most big targets require a well rounded box to complete, or least a few people. Because EQ is largely about community and such, I want to be available to help nudge people along. Feel free to message me in game or on Discord.

http://home.earthlink.net/~brucehalpern ... pflag.html

http://www.bonzz.com/planprog.htm

These two sites are the best guides on how to do PoP progression IMO.

There are a few things at the first tier of planar progression people can do to be ready for boss kills:

1) Plane of Justice: Complete a trial to gain access to Plane of Valor and Plane of Storms. Most people do the Trial of Execution, because it is probably the easiest. Requires a small group. It's a minor dps check, but if you focus fire the mobs that spawn its super easy.

2) Plane of Innovation: You don't need to kill Xanamech for progression if someone already has factory access. In which case it's very quick to go from zone in to a kill. Just make sure to hail Giwin on the inside before and immediately after the Manaetic Behemoth kill. This gets you into Plane of Tactics.

3). Plane of Nightmare: Complete the Hedge Maze event to gain access to the Lair of Terris Thule (PoNb). This requires a small group and patience. When I did this, the escort NPC appeared to be stuck in a loop for a while. Eventually he corrected his path, but I was pretty close to throwing my keyboard out the window. Each group of mobs that spawn increase by 1 until you collect all the pieces. The last group or two are moderately challenging for a new group. The boss is cake with slow.

4) Plane of Disease: In the guide, look up "Adler's Request". Hail who you need to in the appropriate order, then you are ready for the Grummus kill.

5) Plane of Valor: If someone had the Aerin'Dar key, all you need is to walk up to him for the kill. This gives you access to Halls of Honor.

6) Plane of Storms: The entirety of the Askr quest can be completed by a small group. This gets you access into Bastion of Thunder.

As an aside, I did a lot of my AA xp in Solusek Ro's Tower. The alternate access quest is in, and is literally killing the one mob in Western Wastes and turning in his heart to the drake in PoTranq. The xp is great, and the mobs drop the molds for ornate tranquility quest armor. The mobs regularly come in pairs and hit hard though.

PoJ trial , PoN hedge maze and PoStorms askr quests are super easy and did them at 60 with minimal gear and 0 aa

i would do those right away since BoThunder is great exp
and it opens up some stuff you can do for prog (PoV Aerin , BoT Agnar , PoNb Therris Thule are all available then to try solo or join in when someone /ooc's it :p)

that's all i've done with a 6box so far :p some of the other stuff i mooched from Kopek :P

Sorry, here's my post from another thread:

Control wrote:Ok so fair complaints of course. However considering how easy things are to get around, there's no quick systematic fix, and I don't really want to spend the limited dev/maintenance time I have individually tracking and banning people. So for now, consider the box limit removed.

If I can carve out some dev time in the upcoming weeks, I'm going to try to instance the raid zones and do another tuning pass on the top end stuff based on one group. Not sure how it will go, but might be the best compromise.

I need to update the motd.

I would like to bump this post to be pinned. Thanks for the information Kopek, it's been great tool for newbies like myself who never got to PoP back in the day.

Cheers for this.

I don't have much time to play at the moment and am trying to do things in live order, so I'm still farming Zlandi / Klandi to get into Sleepers. Will be helpful in the future though!

What content is going to require more than 1 person? Not just more than 1 group...

ie: MB in PoI, would be impossible to kill if someone isnt killing spiders.

Aerin Darr seems like it would be tough 1 group

HoH trials cant do with just 1 player...

Any others? Server pop doesnt seem active enough to be able to do some of the PoP progression

There are some people I talked to, who said they soloed everything except rathe council and time phase 4+.

Pre-elemental, I personally needed assistance in four encounters:
- Agnarr: I don't have a wizard for a start. And kiting wilst killing is something I cannot do. While not impossible for one person, two persons are suggested. Can still be just one group, but not one person.
- Rallos: Similar situation, need to kite the adds. Again, this is possible, but difficult/annoying for one person. I never tried it alone tho.
- villigar and the other similar trial (rydar is soloable): I am superlaggy in this zone when those trial start, which is why I cannot do it. I have heard of people solo it np, sometimes luckily cause npc didn't agro initially or didn't spawn at all in one room.
- Jyva: this is not difficult, but you need enough dps. Any solo setup with enough dps can take him out, specially 7+ boxes. I didn't have the dps with my three-melee setup.

And then Xegony, the Fish and Rathe.

About the ones you mentioned.
-MB is trivial. Can leave one melee/pet class on either side. Needs 1s attention every 30s. Or can even ignore one side altogether and just burn him. He dies super fast.
-AD is trivial. Neither dragon nor adds do any noticable dps. First time I did him, I got 1 add mid fight and all others after he died.

That was with a setup war/mnk/rng/dru/enc/clr.

for agnarr - why do you need wizard?

also for RZ? Why kite the adds? can you not just burn him down?

Agnarr - you don't apparently. I had been doing it the old school way until i realized protals could be killed before engaging the boss. Which makes the encounter rather trivial.
RZ - you can burn RZ and the adds as they spawn, if you have the dps. Bit of a challange for a non elemental 6 boxer tho.
