Prospective Player Questions

Good afternoon VoG,

I have been reading about your server as I am considering playing some EQ casually. I love what I have read about this server being set for mostly solo content and balanced groups for raids. Sounds like a great concept.

I have a few questions.

1) Is there a minimum age to play on this server? My kids have expressed an interest in playing. They would be heavily supervised if they demonstrate that they can handle it.

2) Do you expect this server to be around for a while? It seems new and I was wondering if there is a long term plan?

3) Will EQ Titanium work with this server? This is the only game version I have.

Thank you all for your time and input. Looking forward to seeing you in game.

No age req, feel free to let them play. However, be aware that I don't really police chat content. I might bonk someone if something really became a problem, but it's never come up.

I've played eq on and off since launch, and this is my little hedge against the day when EQ live shuts down. Short of daybreak starting to take legal action on emus, this server isn't going anywhere.

I know some people have tinkered with other clients with varying degrees of success. Feel free to try, but I'd recommend grabbing the client and spell file from viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7

Just let me know if you have any other questions :)

Well, I got logged in last night using Titanium. I was not able to interact with any NPCs. I am going to download your client per the suggestion and give that a try.

Have you adjusted some of the chat channels? It seems like /ooc is broadcasting across the entire server.

Is there a resource you have created explaining Mods you have made to help the noobs on the server like me find useful stuff?

It has been 12 years since I played EQ. It is amazing how many of controls I remember.

So it looks like if I read Changes and Suggestions that will answer a lot about the server. Would still like to know about the chat channels. Thank you

ooc is serverwide. The changelog is the best place to list the changes, but it's a lot to go through so here are the highlights:

In pok, there are translocators to teleport you to lots of zones. The vendor nearby have some noob armor, weapons, packs, potions, etc. Some of the stuff is free to make life a little easier (gate pots, invis pots, etc.) Mobs are quite a bit easier than on live, and xp is increased. No death penalty, and you get all spells and skills when you level up.

I finally got the client to download with the help of a download manager. I ran "launch titanium per the instructions and got this error.

"The program can't start because d3dx9_30.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this issue."

Any suggestions?

Never mind. I think I got it. It occurred to me it was a DirectX error. Installed the end user run-time for DirectX 9.0 into Windows 7 and it appears to be fixed.
