Where do you plan on taking this server, as far as changes and things like that?

And most importantly, honestly, how long do you plan to keep this server up?
I don't wanna run into what i have before, where i dump all this time into this newer server and login one day and bam its gone.
Love the server btw.

Hi, I plan to keep the server running for the foreseeable future. I like the idea of keeping it as essentially an EQ archive. If that ever changes for some reason, I'll definitely arrange for an orderly transfer to someone else from the community. There won't just be a lights-out. Also, the server is running on a dedi with multiple daily backups pushed off-site, so there's some redundancy if the server or datacenter ever explodes.

For direction, the main goal was to get the server running smoothly through PoP, which has mostly been done, but there's still a lot of balance tweaking that needs to be done and a pretty significant list of bugs/issues/improvements.

In the near future, I want to get a custom hub in to get us out of PoK as well as a pretty extensive progression quest that upgrades the charm and encourages people to go visit zones they may not have been to recently (or maybe even ever).

For post-PoP content, it's tricky. Even though I played some after PoP and really enjoyed some parts of the later expansions, I think most peoples' nostalgia pretty much ends with PoP, which was why that was the initial goal. However, it does feel a bit sad to be sitting on hundreds of zones of content without using them. We need to find a good way to keep the nostalgia of the PoP era from being ruined though, so if/when later expansions get opened, the post-PoP game will need to be separated somehow. Maybe through post-pop-locking progression quest, or maybe pop gets the naggy-punting code for people over 65? So still a bit fuzzy, but if anyone has any ideas about how to best handle that, I'm all ears.

I played on Hidden Forest for a while ( which is now heavy 6 box required content.. not my thing) and the customized zones are nice.
Having played to Thule on live.. seeing the way the content was changed to HF's unique style was interesting.
Wonder if Lillu would let you pinch the player hub there as a start :)
Progressive charm/powersource sounds like a great idea also )

for Me personally, my nostalgia died after pop, and I love this server, and I get putting your own twist on things but, I would hate to see you get too custom and scare people away. il give an example, I love this server cuz for the most part its classic and legit, yeah u have the porters and such but u still have to "Play the game" but it don't tske 6hrs to get from point a to point b. plus you have the increased xp. it's nice, but im personally not a fan of "custom content", and I'm sure I'm not the only one. but at the end of the day it is your server.

I'm not a fan of custom content either - I would personally love to see GoD and even OOW. But if custom content is easier than making GoD or OOW work - can we at least have GoD and OOW loot on the custom content instead of custom weapons and gear? Would be awesome and the GoD and OOW loot is already in the database. Even some DoN loot would be cool.

I haven't really poked at the things beyond pop yet, but unless things are hopelessly broken, custom content would be way more time consuming. As mentioned above, the part I want to be careful about is ruining the pop and under content.

I'm with the guy above about OOW. When I started actually maxing my characters and raiding, Anguish was the place to be. I had raided a bit in Kael during Velious/SoL eras, but Anguish was the first truly terrifying raid zone for me. Plus epic 2.0's were just so damn cool, and were actually useful unlike some class epic 1.0's which just became obsolete. Am totally cool to explore PoP raiding, which I never got to do other than one PoTime raid way after the content was old, but I wouldn't mind me some OoW :)
